Dr. Christopher Troianos, MD – Cleveland, OH

I currently serve as Chair of the Anesthesiology Institute of the Cleveland Clinic, which unites all anesthesiology providers in general anesthesiology, cardiothoracic anesthesiology, pain medicine, pediatric & congenital cardiac anesthesiology, critical care medicine, outcomes research, education, and a regional practice, within one fully integrated model of care.

I am fortunate to have been able participate on a national and international stage presenting topics relating to cardiac anesthesiology, perioperative echocardiography, and economics related to the practice of anesthesiology. I was part of the original task force that developed training guidelines in perioperative TEE and subsequently quality improvement guidelines in perioperative TEE. I was the lead author for practice guidelines for ultrasound guided vascular access. I have numerous peer-reviewed publications, authored the anesthesiology textbook, “Anesthesia for the Cardiac Patient.”, and have been an invited speaker to national and international scientific educational conferences. My experience with graduate medical education spans two decades, having served as a Residency Program Director at two institutions.

I served as President of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA) 2017-2019, and as President for the National Board of Echocardiography 2021-2023.

I chaired the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Committee on Economics (2017-21), and I now Chair the ASA's Section on Professional Practice, which includes the ASA Committees on Economics, Practice Management, Academic Anesthesiology, Governmental Affairs, Innovation, and Rural Practice.

I continue to enjoy my clinical work as a Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist and Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiographer at the Cleveland Clinic.
